HSINCHU
TRAIN STATION
Built in 1913, Hsinchu Train Station is an architecturally and historically significant landmark in the city center, just a 10-minute walk from Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu.
Designed by the Japanese architect Manchou Matsugazaki, the station is a Baroque-style building and is one of the oldest and most famous stations on the Western Line.
Start your walking tour from the station and meander around until reaching the next landmark East Gate.

EAST GATE
Visit East Gate, just a five-minute walk from Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu, and see the city’s most famous landmark and a piece of the city’s history.
Designated as a class two historical monument, the East Gate was one of the four gates erected in 1827 to protect Hsinchu City and is the only gate that has been well preserved. There is also a stone stele in front of the gate, documenting the history of the city wall.

IMAGE MUSEUM OF HSINCHU CITY
Take a stroll down the memory lane of Taiwan’s film industry at the Image Museum of Hsinchu City, just 15 minutes’ walk from Ambassador Hotel Hsinchu.
Built in 1933, the museum was formerly the Yule Theater and was the first air-conditioned theater in Taiwan. Today, the museum showcases art and cultural performances, offers visitors a glimpse behind the scenes of film-making, and traces the history of Taiwan’s theaters and films over the past 100 years.
